The Fishing

There are three main types of fishing we cater for on ‘She likes it Rough’ charters, all weather dependant.

WRECKING (MARCH to OCT)

Whether it be on the drift or at anchor why not try our offshore wrecking trips. Using various fishing methods e.g artificial jellyworms, shads, Redgills or presenting baits on the drift are a good way to fish for Cod, Pollock, Bass, Ling and Black Bream which inhabit the wrecks off our coast at various times of the year. Please contact us for more information on the best time of the season and tactics to target these fish.

Fishing at anchor on the wrecks and presenting anchored baits can also be very productive at certain times of the year the quality is just as good and it’s not as hectic.

Over the years we have built up a vast database of wrecks and rest assured we try our utmost to find you that fish of a lifetime. We understand that travelling time is valuable fishing time lost so our wrecking trips are pre planned giving you the most fishing time possible, without all the unnecessary travelling and moving normally associated with this type of fishing.

BASSING ( MAY to SEPT )

Our bassing trips on ‘She likes it Rough are normally done on the drift, anchoring is possible if you know where.
Preparing freshly caught live bait (which you can often catch yourself) is a fantastic way to fish for predatory fish like Bass.
We drift the many offshore rips and sandbanks which lay off our coast using ‘lightweight sporting tackle’ this allows the Bass to show their full potential.
We use to have bumper days of this type of fishing (over 20 fish per angler) unfortunately these days are not as common as in previous times but if we do have one we will be trying to promote some catch and release. You will of course be given the opportunity to take some of these fine tasting fish home to your table, this will give these wonderful fish a chance to fight another day.

INSHORE & UPTIDE FISHING ( All Year Round )

If Wrecking and Bass Fishing is not really your thing we can still show you a good days ground fishing. This is done a lot closer to home, using conventional boat casting methods. Baits used for this type of fishing are Squid, Lugworm, Ragworm, Herring and Mackerel. Species such as Cod, Skate and Whiting are caught throughout the Winter. The Spring and Summer brings more Skate, Spurdog, Smoothound, Bass and Tope.

Through prior arrangement bait can be supplied and tackle hire to suit whatever type of trip you decide on.
